| Turkey Point Luxury Rental Cottage Location
Turkey Point is a small, beach resort town located on about three kilometres of gorgeous, sandy beach along the shore of Lake Erie. We're a few minutes south of Simcoe, Ontario. It's a casual, relaxed and unhurried place... where a walk along the beach, an afternoon swim, a stop for a foot-long hotdog and an evening under the stars with friends make for a perfect day. Our community includes seasonal and year-round cottages and homes, businesses including shopping, restaurants, services and a large marina complex. Turkey Point was named in 1795, after a visit from Upper Canada's first Lieutenant Governor, John Graves Simcoe, who noted an abundance of wild turkeys in the area. Today, Turkey Point is a haven for anglers, boaters and summer visitors from near and far. The community is bordered by natural areas including a Crown Forest, world-renowned wetlands and two nearby Provincial Parks. Our beach offers warm, shallow waters, making it a 'hot' summer destination. Wading into Lake Erie from this beach in the summer is pure bliss. The beach is protected by several submerged sandbars that make it a great place to play. The main swimming area is marked in summer to keep watercraft away from swimmers. Turkey Point beach faces Long Point – a spectacular 40-kilometre spit of sand sweeping into Lake Erie – across the waters of a sheltered bay. Long Point Bay (once you've been here, you'll discover the Inner and Outer bays) offers some of the finest boating and fishing in Canada. Long Point has been designated a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. If you'd like to introduce your family to life at the cottage, this is the place to start! Bring your kids, and let them experience the magic of cottage living... the way that time stands still, foot-long hot dogs and fries on a sunny afternoon, the warm, shallow beaches, the wildlife that's all around the area, and pedalboating and fishing right at your doorstep. You don't need anything more than a hook and a worm to catch a pile of fish from our backyard, and see your son or daughter grin with excitement! Bring your canoe or kayak, launch it from your backyard, and explore the calm channels of the marina. Venture out into Lake Erie, and cast for bass, pike or catfish in the reedy inlets of the Inner Bay. Bring your scuba gear, and explore the immense graveyard of sunken "ghost ships" in the waters off Long Point. Have your kids seen the Milky Way before? Bring your telescope or binoculars to explore our pitch-black night skies, and discover planets, stars and constellations invisible through the haze of city lights. Even without a telescope, just stand in the backyard and the expanse of stars is absolutely dazzling! What are you waiting for? Bring your family to 34 Clubhouse Road in Turkey Point.
